(15) Dominika Cibulkova
Cibulkova has not enjoyed much success in Melbourne before but certainly has the ability to cause a few shocks this time around.
The diminutive Slovakian, who stands at just 5ft 3in tall, was responsible for one of the upsets of last season when she took out top seed Victoria Azarenka at the French Open on her way to the quarter-finals.
That was no one-off though as Cibulkova also famously dumped Caroline Wozniacki, at the time the world number one, out of Wimbledon in 2011.
The 23-year-old, who claimed her second WTA singles title in Carlsbad last summer before ending 2012 at a career year-end ranking high 15, has never gone beyond the fourth round at the Australian Open so there's plenty of room for improvement to her record Down Under.
In keeping with her upset of Azarenka at Roland Garros, most of Cibulkova's best results have come on the clay, although that success at Carlsbad does at least suggest she can compete on the hardcourts.
