The Serbian, who won the title at the All England Club in 2011, needed just an hour and 28 minutes to see off his Kazakh opponent.
The scoreline looked as if it might end up even worse for Golubev after Djokovic won the first 11 games of the match, but the world number 56 eventually manged to get some games on the board.
But he did not have anywhere near enough quality to trouble Djokovic, who served seven aces and did not face a break point.
Djokovic will now meet Radek Stepanek, the man who beat Andy Murray at Queen's Club recently, in round two.
