Watson upset sixth seed Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-7 (4-7) 6-2 6-3 to reach the last eight.
And the young Briton has a great chance to reach the semi-final too as her expected opponent, second seed Zheng Jie, was toppled 6-3 6-3 by Pauline Parmentier of France.
Watson lost a tight first set on the tie-break but in the second she broke the experienced Spaniard and served out - saving four break points in the process - to level the match.
She then bossed the decider, grabbing an early break to put her in command before breaking once again to secure the victory.
Eighth seed Robson beat Chinese qualifier Zhou Yi-Miao 6-4 6-4 and takes on Kai-Chen Chang, of Chinese Taipei, in the last eight.
Also on Thursday, seventh seed Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa defeated Mirjana Lucic of Croatia 6-2 6-2.
