Verdasco's last-four opponent will be Spain's Marcel Granollers, who recovered from a nightmare first set - in which he was broken twice - to pull off a 1-6 6-3 7-5 win over Germany's Matthias Bachinger.

Third seed and home favourite Marin Cilic beat American Wayne Odesnik 6-4 6-0 and will next face Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov, who was a 6-4 6-4 winner over Carlos Berlocq of Argentina.
