Briton Heather Watson narrowly failed in her bid to join Laura Robson as a Grand Slam winner on Saturday at the French Open.
Watson and partner Timea Babos went down in the final of the girls' doubles, losing on a champions' tie-break after the first two sets had been shared.
Elena Bogdan and Noppawan Lertcheewakarn, the player Robson beat to win junior WImbledon last season, claimed a 3-6 6-3 10-8 victory on Court Two at a damp Roland Garros.
It had all started so well for 17-year-old Watson and her Hungarian partner, the third seeds, as they broke both of their opponents in establishing a 5-0 lead.
The Romania-Thailand partnership retrieved one of the breaks of serve but the first-set damage had already been done.
However, the second set mirrored the first, Bogdan and Lertcheewakarn moving 5-0 ahead and forcing the match to be decided in the first-to-10 champions breaker.
In it, Watson and Babos saved one match point at 9-7 but the second was taken by the second seeds as they secured victory and the trophy.
