VERDICT

Zvonareva hasn't really converted her early promise (she made the last eight here in 2003) into success at the highest level. Has plenty of shots in her locker, but one of the major factors in her failing to fulfil her potential has been a mental frailty - she has been known to cry on court when things have gone badly. However, 2008 has seen her back to her best and brought renewed hope. Zvonareva has already made four finals this season, winning in Prague, and will be one to avoid for the top seeds in the draw.
