It's been a remarkable rise up the rankings by Szavay. She started 2007 ranked outside the world's top 200 but finished it at number 20. This time last year she arrived in Paris to make her Grand Slam debut, yet just a few months later she was playing in the US Open quarter-finals. Patchy form at the start of the season has improved with the switch on to the clay and it would not be a major surprise to see this teenager back in the latter stages of a Grand Slam here.
