VERDICT
Is fighting her way back towards the top of the women's game. Well known in Paris for her run to the final in 2004, although her display against Justine Henin showed off her major flaw - a serve that is prone to collapse. If she can get that aspect of her game right though she is tough to beat and Dementieva has already won against a high-class field in Dubai this season. A run to the final in Berlin in the build-up to this event also bodes well. Could be a value pick, although keep your fingers crossed with regard to that serve.
