VERDICT

Already a Grand Slam champion - she won the US Open mixed doubles with Max Mirnyi last season - this former world junior champion is another of Eastern Europe's rising stars. Has yet to win a tour title but has beaten the likes of Maria Sharapova and Anna Chakvetadze so is clearly a dangerous opponent. Prefers a faster surface, but looked in good nick in the build-up to this event, reaching the final in Prague and semis in Berlin. However, she then suffered a knee injury in Rome which must cast some doubt over her ability to make waves here.
