VERDICT

Much has been expected of Nalbandian this season after a fantastic finish to 2007. The Argentinian beat Roger Federer (twice), Rafael Nadal (twice), Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer en route to Masters Series titles in Madrid and Paris. Has added the Buenos Aires crown to his CV this season but of late results have tailed off, one quarter-final in Monte Carlo being his best effort since arriving in Europe. Has twice made the semis here, but will need to improve if he is to match those efforts once more.
