If there's anyone left out there who doesn't know, Dementieva is a highly-talented player who is repeatedly let down by one facet of her game - the serve. When it cracks, Dementieva serves double fault after double fault. It's therefore hard to ever recommend her as a potential champion, even though she has reached two Grand Slam finals, including the 2004 version here. A first-week exit seemed on the cards but her win in Istanbul might just give her the impetus to go further.
