VERDICT

A return to the claycourts has brought about a change in fortune for Berdych who had made a disappointing start to 2007. He's been to the semis in Monte Carlo and Munich in recent weeks and also made the last eight in Rome. However, the talented youngster - already a Masters Series winner - has yet to go beyond the last 16 of a Grand Slam event and appears to have a psychological barrier to break down. However, given his form after winning the World Team Championship, this could be the tournament where he does just that.
