Victory here in Melbourne 12 months ago proved that, when fit, Serena is still one of the very best. She won the title while ranked 81st in the world but is now back in the top 10 after mixing it with the best throughout the year, being particularly unlucky to run into Justine Henin at the other three Majors. Still has a worrying injury record though, with several withdrawals during the season, including at the season-ending Tour Championships (knee).
