VERDICT

It's been something of a second coming for Hantuchova of late. She was ranked fifth in the world back in 2002 but that was before alarming weight loss made her the centre of some unwelcome press attention and led to her falling out of the top 50. However, she was back to her very best in 2007, winning the Indian Wells title and qualifying for the season-ending Tour Championships. Preparations for this event have been hit by an abdominal strain but she played in Sydney and should go well, providing there are no ill effects.
