Take away the middle part of 2007 which saw Murray sidelined by a wrist injury, and the British number one had a superb year. He started it in fine fashion by reaching the last 16 here, pushing Rafael Nadal to five sets in the process, and ended it with a string of impressive results which included a title win in St Petersburg. This year he has already picked up where he left off by winning in Doha and looks primed to launch a serious challenge here. Aside from Roger Federer, whom Murray has already beaten in his fledgling career, he should fear no-one in the field.
