VERDICT

Moved from leading youngster to Grand Slam contender in 2007 with a string of highly impressive displays. Is a real all-court performer so should not be fazed by the new courts at Melbourne Park. Of more concern will be a nagging shoulder problem which troubled Djokovic at the recent Hopman Cup warm-up tournament. The Serb beat Roger Federer on a hardcourt last summer and went on to reach his first Grand Slam final at the US Open. Whether he can repeat the feat here will be largely down to fitness as he certainly has the talent.
