Mardy Fish scored a straight-sets 7-5 6-3 victory against Evgeny Korolev to win the ATP Delray Beach International Championship on Sunday.
With rain delaying the start of the match, the top-seeded American converted three of six break points to win the opening set.
Fish then went 5-2 up in the second before Russian qualifier Korolev saved two match points on his own serve and then three more in the ninth game.
However, Fish then held to claim his third ATP Tour title in one hour and 33 minutes.
It is the first time the top seed has won the singles title in the hardcourt tournament's 17-year history.
Korolev had reached his first ATP final by beating Belgium's Christophe Rochus 6-1 7-5 in the last four.
