Gilles Simon defended his BCR Open title in Bucharest with a 6-3 6-4 win over Carlos Moya.

One break in each set was enough for world number 17 and number-two seed Simon to secure his third ATP Tour title of the year.

Simon's 90-minute victory here followed earlier titles in Casablanca and Indianapolis and is his fifth title in all.

He said afterwards: "I like this tournament and its surface - I've always played well here."

For veteran Moya it was his second defeat in the final here, 12 years after the first.
