Unseeded American Sam Querrey claimed his first career title on Sunday after defeating South African qualifier Kevin Anderson 4-6 6-3 6-4 in the final of the Tennis Channel Open.
Ranked 66th in the world, 20-year-old Querrey improved his record this year to 12-6 backed by his powerful serve which helped him record 12 aces.
Querrey had reached his first career final with a straight sets semi-final victory over world number 20 Guillermo Canas of Argentina on Saturday.
Anderson, 21, ousted American Robby Ginepri to advance to his first final but the world number 175 failed to build on his first set success as Querrey fought back to claim the title in just over two hours.
"On my break point in the second set we had just a great point," said Querrey. "I had a couple reflex volleys at the net, and it seemed like it turned things around. In the first set, he was serving 89% first serves so there was not a whole lot I could do there.
"I feel great. This is my best five matches I've put together in a row on tour, and it's really exciting. I've got a lot of confidence right now. I thought I played great this whole week, and I just got to keep it up."
Anderson said: "The main difference was the couple break points he had, he managed to take advantage of both of them. Every chance I was up a set, a couple break points, he came up with a forehand winner and an ace. It was a close match. He was able to take advantage of his opportunities; on my chances, I wasn't able to capitalise."
