Michael Llodra completed his surprising run at the AMRO World Tennis Tournament with a 6-7 (3/7) 6-4 7-6 (7/4) victory over Sweden's Robin Soderling in Sunday's final.
Less than two months into the season, the 27-year-old Frenchman - who started the week ranked 58th in the world, has already surpassed the number of matches he won all of last year.
His Rotterdam success is his third career title and second of the year. He also won at Adelaide in early January.
Llodra dropped only one set in five matches here while winning an upset-filled tournament in which no seeded player made it past the second round.
Earlier in the week, Llodra knocked out number two seed Nikolay Davydenko of Russia for his third career victory against a player ranked in the top 10.
Soderling was appearing in his sixth career ATP Tour final. His last title came at Milan in 2005.
