Late entry Michael Llodra produced a shock as he lifted the Adelaide International title with a straight sets victory over third seed Jarkko Nieminen.
French ace Llodra was only guaranteed a place in the championships when fellow countryman Richard Gasquet was forced to withdraw with a knee injury.
And he made light of his unseeded status by not dropping serve throughout the competition to finally win the title - having been a beaten finalist in 2004.
Nieminen had been expected to have little trouble to seeing off Llodra, having accounted of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semis.
However the world no.27 from Finland was blown away - although the result was no surprise for Llodra.
"I had a good feeling today, especially from the baseline," Llodra said.
"I was very solid until the end.
"I came here 10 times and I lost my first final here. So it's great to win here - Jarkko is a fantastic player, even if he didn't win today.
"It has been a great week, and it's nice to play in such great weather. It's terrible in Paris right now, so it's really nice to play here."
