Peruvian Luis Horna upset Vina del Mar native Nicolas Massu 7-5 6-3 to win the Movistar Open on Sunday.
Horna won the US$448,000 (£228,000) event in one hour and 52 minutes to claim his first career win against Massu - the Chilean had won all four previous meetings.
The world number 42, who was born and lives in Vina del Mar, delighted the home crowd by reaching the final for a second successive year but again failed to complete the job after suffering the same fate against Argentine Jose Acasuso last year.
Massu and Horna produced a high tempo in the opening set as both players served at over 80 per cent on their first serves, but the Peruvian crucially claimed two breaks compared to one from third seed.
The home favourite rained down three aces in the second set, but allowed a break to slip away as the world number 66 clinched the title backed by a 78 per cent success rate on his first serve.
Horna, who did not drop a set all week while reaching his third ATP Tour final, clinched his second ATP Tour title after winning in Acapulco last year.
