Carlos Moya defended his Chennai Open title after a thrilling win over Paradorn Srichaphan on Sunday.
Top seed Moya prevailed 3-6 6-4 7-6 (7/5) to become the first player in the history of the event to successfully defend his crown.
Thai number two seed Srichaphan was making his fourth straight appearance in the final, and made a dream start after breaking Moya early on and racing away with the first set.
The Mallorcan regrouped in the next however, and a solitary break of serve was enough to take the match into a decider.
Srichaphan raced into a 5-2 lead in the final set and looked home and hosed, but Moya had other ideas and incredibly the Spaniard broke back twice himself to level the match at 5-5.
The match then went to a tie-break, and it was Moya who held his nerve when it mattered most to win his 18th ATP Tour singles title.
