Unseeded Belgian Steve Darcis was the surprise winner of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships after beating eighth-seeded Robin Soderling of Sweden in Sunday's final.
Darcis won 6-3 7-6 (7/5) in just over one hour and 15 minutes.
Soderling, who was upset by world number 58 Michael Llodra of France in the Rotterdam final last week, was looking to become the fifth Swede to win this tournament.
Darcis was at a loss for words to describe his unexpected triumph.
"It's tough for me to speak right now,'' he said.
"I feel great. It's the second victory for me in two finals. It's unbelievable. I don't know how to explain it.
"Maybe if you ask me the same question tomorrow, I might answer it better.
"It's just amazing the way I feel right now. It`s really tough for me to explain.''
Soderling was magnanimous in defeat but was left to rue a below-par performance compared to his displays in the run-up to the final.
"He played really well,'' said the Swede.
"He didn't miss much on his serve, he did much better than I expected him to do.
"It's a shame that I played my worst match in the final for two weeks in a row now.
"I think I played some really good tennis this week. I didn't play too badly today either, but I played a lot better in my other matches.
"Maybe he made me play bad. He played really well.''
