David Nalbandian captured his eighth career title when he held on to defeat hometown favourite Jose Acasuso in the final of the Copa Telmex on Sunday.
The top seed survived a poor start to post a 3-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 triumph over Buenos Aires-born Acasuso.
It was the first title this season for Nalbandian, who was playing in his first ATP event since a third-round exit at the Australian Open.
Nalbandian, currently ranked 11 in the world, struggled early on dropping two breaks in the opening set and had to overcome his fellow Argentinian in a tense second-set tie-break to remain in the match.
Nalbandian, 26, claimed a break in the final set and held on to his advantage to finally claim the match in two hours and 43 minutes.
