Marcos Baghdatis clinched his second ATP Tour title on Sunday with victory over local favourite Ivan Ljubicic at the Zagreb Indoors tournament.
The second-seeded Cypriot managed to break his opponent's serve in the final game of the match to post a 7-6 (7/5) 4-6 6-4 result on Sunday.
After failing to convert his first five break points, Baghdatis made number six count to record his second career title following his victory on the hardcourts of Beijing last year.
The world number 21, Baghdatis is now beginning his climb back up the rankings after he fell 10 spots due to a second-round loss at the Australian Open.
"It was great to come back after the disappointment of Australia and win a tournament. I am very, very happy," Baghdatis said.
"I won the crucial points. I played a great tie-break and a great game at 5-4 in the third. Ivan was a bit tight and didn't serve so good in that game."
Improving to 3-0 against Ljubicic in his career should help Baghdatis start his ascent up the rankings.
"I'll just try to keep the same mentality," Baghdatis added.
"Stay happy and keep working hard and everything should go well. I just have to play my game and enjoy it."
The top seed and defending champion, Ljubicic had to play three successive three-set matches to reach the final.
"It was my fourth long match in a row and I was a little tired in the end," said the Croatian.
"I had my chances, and it's always difficult to come from a set down against such a player.
"I am satisfied. I struggled all week long, so to reach the final without playing great tennis is nice. I had a lot of pressure on my shoulders. But I am a little sad because I think I had chances today."
