Novak Djokovic withstood a strong challenge from Chris Guccione to win the Next Generation Adelaide International 6-3 6-7(6) 6-4.
Djokovic claimed the first set but lost a tight tie-break to Guccione, who was playing in his first ATP final after beating world number 18 Richard Gasquet and Argentine teenager Juan Martin Del Potro in the previous rounds.
But number one seed Djokovic claimed his third career ATP title as he took the early initiative in the deciding set before converting it into a match-winning advantage.
Djokovic had disposed of 2005 Adelaide champion Joachim Johansson 6-3 6-2 in the semi-final to earn his fourth career trip to an ATP final.
