Ivan Ljubicic strolled to a straight-sets defeat of Fernando Gonzalez to clinch the BA-CA crown in Vienna on Sunday.
With a 6-3 6-4 7-5 victory, Ljubicic becomes the first player to successfully defend the title at this hardcourt event since Roger Federer in 2002 and 2003.
It was the third title of the year for the top seed from Croatia and the sixth of his career.
Ljubicic did not drop a set at the event and broke for a 3-1 lead in the first set and never relented.
He took a 3-2 lead with a break in the second set and set up match point in the third with three consecutive aces.
Despite the loss, it was an impressive run for Gonzalez.
The fifth seed from Chile eliminated second seed David Nalbandian in the quarter-finals and advanced to the final with a victory over third-seeded American Andy Roddick on Saturday.
