Andy Roddick again got the better of fellow
American James Blake on Sunday at the Legg Mason Classic.
Roddick overpowered Blake, 7-5 6-3, in the final of the US$600,000 hardcourt event to claim his fourth title of 2005 and 19th of his career.
Also the champion here in 2001, Roddick improved to 6-0 lifetime against his
occasional Davis Cup teammate.
The unseeded Blake was trying for his first title since his triumph here in
2002.
With Robby Ginepri winning at Indianapolis two weeks ago and Andre Agassi
triumphing at Los Angeles last week, it marked the first time since 1998 that
Americans had won three consecutive ATP titles.
It was the fifth all-American final in Washington history and the first since
Agassi beat Jim Grabb in 1990.
