Gaston Gaudio remained perfect when he gets the chance
to win a tournament.
The second-seeded Gaudio posted a 6-4 6-4 victory over Romanian
qualifier Stanislas Wawrinka in the final of the US$503,000 Allianz Suisse Open on
Sunday.
Winner of his fourth claycourt event this year, the Argentinian Gaudio
improved to 4-0 when he reaches the final of an event.
The 2004 French Open champion upped his record to 34-7 on clay this year.
The 20-year-old Wawrinka was in a final here for the second straight year. In
2004, he was a doubles finalist in this event.
Last year's winner, world number one Roger Federer of Switzerland, skipped the
event after claiming a third straight Wimbledon title.
