Begium's Xavier Malisse made it lucky seven by beating Jiri Novak to land the Millennium International.
Malisse, the third seed, was contesting his seventh ATP final having lost his previous six.
Yet there were no slip ups this time around as he came through 7-6 (8/6) 6-2 in Delray Beach.
"It feels awesome. It is a feeling that I've never felt seeing that last ball go out and getting the monkey off my back," said the Belgium native.
Only Frenchman Cedric Pioline (nine) had lost more ATP finals before winning.
Malisse had previously defeated Jeff Morrison, Juan-Pablo Guzman, Ramon Delgado and top seed Vincent Spadea en route to the final.
