Joachim Johansson cruised past American
Taylor Dent 7-5 6-3 to win the ATP Next Generation Hardcourts tournament in
Adelaide.
The Swede, seeded second, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2004, winning his
first title, reaching the semi-finals of the US Open and the quarter-finals at
seven other events.
Dent saved three break points in the fifth game of the opening set but
Johansson finally broke his serve in the 11th game to take a 6-5 lead.
The Swede missed one set point but served an ace to take the first set.
Johansson dominated the second set and broke the American's serve twice more.
The defeat was a great disappointment for fifth-seeded Dent, whose dream is to
win a title Down Under where his father, Phil, was born and represented
Australia in the Davis Cup.
