Robin Soderling clinched his first ATP title at the
Lyon Tennis Grand Prix on Sunday with a three-set victory over Xavier Malisse of
Belgium.
The Swede, who lost to Dominik Hrbaty in the finals at Marseille back in
February, started strong, using his powerful serve to capture the first set of
the indoor event.
Malisse hit back but could not sustain the momentum and Soderling eventually
prevailed 6-2 3-6 6-4.
In his only final entering 2004, Soderling lost to American Mardy Fish in
Stockholm last year.
Malisse remains without a tour title.
