Virtually no-one in tennis is hotter than Guillermo
Canas, right now.
Canas won his 11th straight match on Sunday, cruising past Filippo Volandri of
Italy 7-5 6-3 in Sunday's final of the Croatia Open.
A native of Argentina, Canas has won back-to-back titles. He won six matches
to claim last week's crown at Stuttgart before winning five matches without
dropping a set in this claycourt event.
Canas won £35,000 for his fifth career ATP tour victory.
The only player with a longer current winning streak is Roger Federer, the
top-ranked player in the world.
Federer has won 17 straight matches but took this week off.
The sixth-seeded Moya had few problems with the fourth-seeded Volandri,
Italy's top player who upset three-time defending champion Carlos Moya in
Saturday's semi-finals.
Canas, who lost just 28 games in the tournament, had an easier time getting to
the final as he trounced unseeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
