France's Michael Llodra upset top seed
Guillermo Coria of Argentina to win the Ordina Open on Sunday.
Llodra dispatched Coria 6-3 6-4 to win his first career title. He
was appearing in his second career final, having lost to Dominik Hrbaty in the
championship match at Adelaide in January.
"I'm very happy to win my first title," Llodra said.
"When you play tennis you play to win tournaments and today it's done, so
it's good. When I lost the final in Adelaide I said, 'Come on, I know I can be
better.' In the final here I was a little bit tight, but I was physically
perfect."
The 24-year-old wild card entry collected £35,000 and 35 ATP 2004 Race points
by winning this grasscourt warm-up for Wimbledon, which begins on Monday. Llodra
will play countryman Cyril Saulnier in the first round.
"I have a lot of confidence after winning my first title," Llodra said.
"I will try to win some matches in Wimbledon and afterwards I will have some
rest to enjoy my victory."
Coria lost his third straight final in his last four tournaments.
He was runner-up to Roger Federer at the Hamburg Masters last month and
squandered a two-set lead to lose the French Open final two weeks ago.
However, the 22-year-old Argentine won his first match on grass in the first
round here and can take the confidence of reaching a final on the surface into
his opening-round encounter against Wesley Moodie of South Africa at Wimbledon.
"It would have been great to have won another title, especially on grass,"
Coria said.
"I felt really comfortable on the grass court this week. I really enjoyed it
and I hope I will continue to enjoy it next week."
