Nicolas Massu routed Australian Mark Philippoussis
on Saturday to clinch Chile's second straight ATP World Team Cup title.
Massu crushed last year's Wimbledon finalist 6-3 6-1 after Fernando Gonzalez
beat Lleyton Hewitt 7-5 6-2, as Chile took an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the final.
The Australians gained a point in the doubles when Wayne Arthurs and Paul
Hanley defeated Massu and Adrian Garcia 6-4 6-4.
Chile became the first team to successfully defend their title here since the
United States, with John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors, achieved the feat in 1984
and 1985.
