Carlos Moya put an end to Paradorn
Srichaphan's reign at the season-opening Tata Open.
Moya dethroned the defending champion with a 6-4 3-6 7-6 (7-5) triumph in
Sunday's final of the £206,000 hardcourt tournament.
Completing the win in just under two hours, Moya became the fourth top-seeded
player to claim the TATA crown.
The 27-year-old Spaniard won his 15th ATP title with his second victory over
Srichaphan.
Last year, he picked up three titles, reached the final at two other events
and qualified for the Tennis Masters Cup in Houston.
By winning this Australian Open tune-up, Moya collected a first prize of
£28,000 and 35 ATP points.
Srichaphan, who saved six match points in Saturday's semi-final against Tommy
Robredo, lost for only the second time in 15 matches here.
He reached his third straight Tata Open final and earned £16,500 and 24
ranking points.
