CORIA CLAIMS THIRD TITLE

Guillermo Coria won his third title of the season and second in successive weeks on Sunday when the Argentinian was a crushing winner over Chile's Nicolas Massu in Kitzbuhel.

The all-South American clash in the final of the Generali Open went the way of Coria by a 6-1 6-4 6-2 margin.

Having won earlier in the season at Hamburg and Stuttgart, Coria's liking for tournaments in German-speaking countries continued in Austria as he triumphed in a match lasting two hours and seven minutes.

He has now won 22 straight sets and was so dominant against Massu that not once did he face a break-point.

The 21-year-old broke Massu twice in the first set, once in the second set and twice in the third set, and did not double fault in the entire match.

He climbs to third in the Champions Race standings as a consequence and was taken aback by his latest win.

"I'm so happy," said Coria.

"I'm having a great run and I'm happy to have won here in Kitzbuhel.

"Massu made too many mistakes today, maybe he was rushing a little bit.

"I want to dedicate this victory to the people of Santa Fe suffering from the flooding a couple of months ago. I come from the same area and we have to fight together."

Coria's form since Wimbledon has turned heads in the tennis world and the youngster is being tipped as a good outside shot for the upcoming US Open which begins in a month's time.

"I would like to become number one in the world. My main aims for this year are to reach the Tennis Masters Cup and to try and win the Davis Cup," he said.

He is well placed to finish among the top eight in the Champions Race who qualify for the Masters Cup, while Argentina are closing in on the Davis Cup final.

They will have home advantage in their September semi-final against a Switzerland side which should feature Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.

Coria impressed his opponent who himself was coming into the final on the back of 10 straight match wins.

"I lost to the best clay court player in the world," said Massu.

"I played great tennis. I was hoping to win today but I lost. I hope to continue to play like this in the next weeks.

"He played so good, he was solid. I was a little bit tired, I've played a lot lately.

"To play a five-set match against Coria when you're tired is tough."
