Spaniard David Ferrer won the first ATP title
of his career at the Open Romania by beating Jose Acasuso in a one-sided
final.
The 20-year-old Ferrer beat his 19-year-old Argentinian opponent 6-3 6-2 in
Bucharest to top his excellent summer.
He won his first career match on the senior tour at Umag in July and went on
to reach that final before losing to Carlos Moya, while he has also taken four
titles on the Challenger tour.
Ferrer said: "I'm very happy to have won my first ATP title.
"It's unbelievable.
"It's the best week of my career and today is the best day of my life.
"I played very well the whole match. I played great tennis all week defeating
great players. A couple of years ago I watched them on television and now I beat
them."
