Seventh seed Younes El Aynaoui of Morocco
captured his second ATP title on Sunday by beating unseeded Albert Montanes of
Spain to win the Gelsor Open claycourt tournament.
El Aynaoui served and volleyed his way through both sets to pull out a 7-6
(7-5) 7-6 (7-2) win in front of 4,500 spectators.
"I'm so happy to win another title, it's been a tremendous week," said El
Aynaoui, who turned 30 on Wednesday.
"I played one of my best matches in my career today. I had to fight very hard,
he didn't give me any free points. I think we gave the crowd a great match. It
has been a great atmosphere here."
It was the Moroccan's second final of the year after he lost a five-set
encounter to Alex Corretja in July at the Dutch Open in Amsterdam.
Montanes, 20, was playing in his first final in only his seventh ATP
tournament.
"It was a difficult match but I think I played well. I was a little bit nervous
in the beginning," said Montanes, who defeated countrymen Albert Portas and last
year's champion Balcells during the week.
