All times GMT.
0035: Right. I'm off. Back to the hotel and some much needed homework ahead of the big day. This has been wonderful but tomorrow? You wait until tomorrow... Back early in the morning. Well around 0700 local time - 1500 GMT!
0030: 37,651 is our official attendance.
0025: No prizes for today's highlight. Midday capping Henry Cecil and Tom Queally's remarkable seasons. It was a special moment.
The defeat of Lillie Langtry was something of a sobering moment but Man Of Iron got on the board for team Ballydoyle.
Two winners is a good start but also a reminder that European success over here has to be earned. What's your spread on our winners now?
0015: One look at the Los Palmas Handicap was enough. I'm saving myself for tomorrow!
0010: We still have a race to go here would you believe! The Las Palmas Handicap.
0005: As I never say at just after midnight on a weekend - "How was that for you?"
For Sky Bet the answer was good. Midday the only bad result among the six races and it's 1-0 to the layers. It's only half-time though.
0000: Life Is Sweet came here following the decision to send Zenyatta to the Classic. She's a stablemate, an understudy and clearly very good!
2352: Just received an email saying B Linfoot is "my hero and a top tipster".
In my day a hero was someone who dragged people from a burning building or swam the channel. Now sadly it is a bald, lethargic man with a fondness for pastry. Top tip though!
2351: Our Vic is in good spirits. He writes: "All I'll say is: My life is sweet."
2350: Don;'t know what went wrong with Careless Jewel there. She was ten lengths clear down the back stretch but then the stride shortened dramatically. She was a spent force by the turn.
2348: OMG and I swore not to use that again. OMG. Life Is Sweet has won for Ben Linfoot. Well done sir.
2346: Johnny H is a late player. He writes: "Love the blog..it is an award winning piece..after doing my donuts on Lillie Langtry (leggy filly - didn't handle the turns) I'm playing up my winnings on Sir HRAC's Midday in the last..am against Careless Jewell even though pace on the race seems the key tonight..prefer Cocoa Beach, Proviso and Rainbow View..you should see my Betfair page on this race - I'm scared of those red numbers..!
"Treat yourself to some dos equis after the meet.."
If you insist...
2345: Careless Jewel. It's Careless Jewel.
2344:John S writes: "Possible best bet of evening. Easy lead. Quicken at top bend, run away."
But which horse John? Which horse?
2338: I prefer George Strawbridge's European silks to his American ones. Sorry. I just do.
2337: Here we go. On the track for the Ladies' Classic.
2335: Ben Linfoot "can't see how Life Is Sweet loses this". He also can't see what society deems to be normal minimum requirements for male grooming.
2331: Bob Bradley's all in now. He adds: "I'm rolling the dice as well putting Proviso on top of a trifecta bet with synthetic lovers Life is Sweet (won G1 course and distance) Lethal Heat (raced well with Zenyatta) and Mushka, who was moved up to first after Proviso's right turn dq last time at Keeneland".
Hope you catch a break sir!
2330: Our Vic writes: "Really think that Music Note will go close and Life Is Sweet will push her all the way. If that could happen I'd forget everything. Honest".
What do they say about forgiveness? I've forgotten.
2324: A final roll of the dice for Adam Robinson. They've been kind for him. He writes: "Final bet of the night for me, of which has been a fantastic betting day. Going in with Proviso here. I would love to see Rainbow View win, but just cant have her".
A lot in agreement with you there.
2320: Thomas - not Tom - Queally added: "The biggest win of my career - undoubtedly. It was a dream run. Nine times out of ten it won't work out that way for you, but today was the day". It was Tom.
2315: Reaction from THE story now - Midday's win.
Henry Cecil said: "It was lovely. I did fancy Father Time but he just didn't seem to let himself go at all. I was wondering what was going to happen to Midday. It was a relief".
2313: I've already followed Rainbow View over a cliff this year yet I've gone in again for the Ladies' Classic. I'm a fool but a loyal fool. Music Note has been the big talking horse for this at 7/2. Rainbow View is 7/1.
2311: Our Vic is not impressed. He writes: "The ONLY reasons that Informed Decision won was because the race was slower than last year and Ventura had to come too wide and too late. Damn."
2306: Informed Decision wins the races. Venture chasing her all the way down the stretch but never getting there.
2303: 4/5 Ventura now. Weak.
2300: Scot's at it! He writes: "JJ's with Venture? suddenly I have more confidence in Sara Louise :)"
2258: Just been offered a beer. Changed the order to water. What is becoming of me?
2255: Bob Bradley's reading of the Filly & Mare Sprint: "Seventh Street has won 2 Group 1s going longer on the front end. Hasn't finished worse than second in almost 2 years. 12-1 currnetly off a 4-1 morning line. Get on board and try to beat the chalk."
2252: James Jenkins will bounce back. I know he will. He's turned to drink for now though! He writes: "No wins forces me to take the chalk, Ventura, so I can cash something! Life Is Sweet in the Classic and I'm out of here and heading to my favorite watering hole. Back at it tomorrow! Mind your P"s and Q's Dave!"
I always do!
2250: I know we say Twice Over has got his confidence back. But do you sense the same is true for his trainer? The way he carries himself again, the way he talks to the media. The swagger is back.
2246: Michael Moran is also going to bed a happy man! He writes: "Get in! each way double up and also a single bet my banker of the meeting".
2245: John Sandys makes a terrific point, saying: "Hi Dave, great training performance. Don't forget midday ran in the blue riband trial at Epsom back in April".
2244: It's celebration time. Adam Robinson writes: "Arise Sir Henry!! Master at training fillies!"
2242: Ventura is a big drifter for this Filly & Mare Sprint on track. She's 2/5 from 1/5!
2240: Midday stays in training next season. The good news just keeps a-coming!
2235: Henry looks a little choked. He should be. He's back here he belongs - in the big league!
2230: Queally was pushing along firmly turning in but the gap opened up as Visit came off the rail and she is a ready winner by the finish.
2228: There were scares along the way but Midday has won for Henry Cecil and Tom Queally. Fantastic!
2227: On the inside, in third now Midday. Pushed up to second now.
2225: They weren't loading. They are now. I got confused.
2222: Forever Together now favourite - Midday out to 5/2.
2222: Loading.
2220: 2/1 joint-favourites now. Magical Fantasy is 9/2.
2218: Dynaforce wins best turned out.
2215: Big moment this for Thomas - not Tom - Queally. I was told yesterday he's ridden more Group One winners in Britain than any other jockey this season.
2214: They're on the track. Would love Midday to win, she looks a picture too. Interesting how little mention there's been of Visit.
2212: Bob Bradley is another Magical Fantasy man. His reasoning: "Love Midday, hate her odds. Magical Fantasy is the one, has won 4 on the trot, 2 of which over course and distance including a Group 1. 6-1 now off a 3-1 morning line. Probably finish second the way my day's going".
2210: James Jenkins has Ord-esque stats at the moment but he's still in there fighting.
He writes: "Finally get some boys running! Magical Fantasy loves the "left coast". But what do I know, I'm 0-3!"
Trust me - that's good!
2208: Good news. Adam Robinson is back. He writes: "Come on Midday! After the disappointment of Father Time, lets hope Midday can do the business. Fancy Informed Decision to beat Ventura as well".
Would love to see Midday win. How strong is Forever Together though? She's 5/2 here now with Midday 2/1.
2206: Just discovered "fresh, seasonal fruit" goes into the Down The Stretch cocktail. I may get to the five-a-day yet.
2205: John Sandys is our nearly man today. He writes: "Don't know whether to laugh or cry. Backed she be wild there, but had it in a double with cloudys in the first great ride from leparoux. Midday here, sit near pace kick on home turn, run away from these!"
Sounds a great plan. If she's to win, that's how it'll happen.
2202: 8/5 Midday for the Filly & Mare Turf. Is your confidence rocked by the Father Time no-show and eclipse of Lillie Langtry?
2200: Belated reaction to the Juvenile Fillies' Turf and Lillie Langtry. Johnny Murtagh said: "I'm not sure if she handled the course. She didn't turn well. She's a big, rangy filly".
Aidan O'Brien added: "Johnny never got a happy run. I think he got a little bit of a bump early. We'll bring her home and trainer her for the Classics at home".
2155: Garrett Gomez will be kicking himself. He got off She Be Wild to ride Always A Princess.
2153: She Be Wild wins the races. They were coming at her from all angles. She showed a nice turn of foot to go clear over a furlong out. Always A Princess tried to make all but just weakened. Beautician was second. Great effort team!
2152: She's in - and we're off!! Come on my two beauties. My two American beauties.
2150: 8/1 Beautician, 6/1 Always A Princess. Bickersons won't go near the stalls let alone in them.
2149: Stalls in place. We have a race on!
2146: A warning from John Jenkins. It reads: "Beautician always finds trouble....Blind Luck by a nose".
2145: Bo Derek's here. Just thought I'd tell you.
2143: Heading down for the Juvenile. I've been tempted into Beautician too. I'm so easily led. A follower of fashion.
2140: Time to get on Beautician boys and girls. Scot is in full agreement with Bob. He writes: "My mistake. I have Sara Louise in a later race. Going for Beautician here..She has been trained especially for this race according to my old pal Kenny McPeek".
I blame the drink Scot. Get a Down The Stretch down you man. You've earned it. And as our sponsors say - "stay thirsty".
2136: Bob Bradley is pushing Scot close. His thoughts on the Juvenile Fillies are: "Beautician for me, had trouble in last, chased a fast one at shorter distances at Saratoga in the summer. 7-1 is a fair price. 2 races, 2 seconds for me, bet accordingly".
2130: 6/1Always A Princess. Another fanfare. 7/2 joint-favourites Connie And Michael and Negligee.
2127: Scot has been the star of the Breeders' Cup for us thus far! He writes: "Well I"m playing with house money for rest of the BC now. Off for a happy hour cocktail now and have sara Loise at 8-1 in the next."
Have one for me Scot. Have one for me!
2125: Quotes from the Marathon.
O'Brien on the winner: "That's brilliant, we're delighted, Johnny gave him a wonderful ride".
Dettori on Mastery: "He danced one too many times this year".
Best of all Jonathan Shepherd on Cloudy's Knight: "What a horse. He ran his heart out. He's really not that tired. He just couldn't run any faster!"
2124: Juvenile Fillies next. I'm on Always A Princess thanks to Steve Andersen. His enthusiasm was infectious.
2123: John Sandys points out how quick the turf looks. Well what do we learn from that Juvenile Fillies' Turf? It could pay to be sitting handy out there.
2120: 10-4-7-9 your official result. Hatheer ran well for Bob in fourth.
2118: Tapitsfly wins the races for Scott, edging out Bob with Rose Catherine. Lillie Langry never a factor. She was under pressure and beaten turning in.
2116: She's sat in six or seventh, four lengths off the pace.
2115: Well they've kept Lillie Langry in one piece in the preliminaries.
2112: Bob Bradley has a different play. He writes: "Rose Catherine and Hatheer for me Dave. Hatheer's momma was a smart filly in these parts on the grass and she's a price at 19-1. Rose Catherine may not get the mile, but she's fast".
There's definite opposition among you to Lillie Langtry who remains just about calm. However she is now into 8/5 on the track.
2110:, Scott, James Jenkins is not joining you with Tapitsfly. He writes: "She is 1 for 1 on grass, but hasn't sold me, she'll be full of mud at the wire!"
2108: Lillie Langtry is not parading in racecard order. She came out last. They're definitely trying to keep the lid on her.
2105: Andy writes: "The lady is just ordering the curry in, will certainly enjoy my Murgh Tikka Bhuna all the more if Midday does the business for HRA".
Could kill for a curry out here. Kill for one. I never thought I'd say this, and I may even whisper it, but I'm sick of beef.
2104: Scott in Fort Lauderdale was a Cloudy's Knight man in the first. He's not down though.
2059: James Jenkins has an aggressive policy for this! He writes: "Dave, let's do an Irish trifecta here....Elusive Galaxy will need prayers however, bombed in her first in NA."
Too exotic for me James - won't have pay well though!
2057: Sky Bet have revised their Top European Jockey market. 1/3 Murtagh now, 11/4 Dettori and 9s Moore.
2055: John Magnier on the big screen in the sort of panama you see at Goodwood.
2054: Fanfare again. A short one. Four seconds on my clock.
2053: 9/5 Lillie Langry now. She's already become a pivotal result for British and Irish bookmakers.
2052: Jon Lahive continues to fritter away the children's university fund. He writes: "It was on Cloudy at 12's...nearly a great result,". I bet the old heart was pounding!
2049: What price a rapid Aidan O'Brien/Johnny Murtagh double? Lillie Langtry 2/1 favourite for the Juvenile Fillies Turf.
2046: Man Of Iron returns £14.80 for the win. James Jenkins writes: "Can you give us the track payoffs in dollars instead of that funny European money?"
Ithink you'll find we still have the good old British pound not the euro my good man!! Will try my best to please both sides of the Atlantic. And the French.
2045: Great round of applause for Cloudy's Knight. He'd have been back in front in another stride.
2044: Man Of Iron wins the races. Tough luck Cloudy's Knight fans. Could not have had the winner there. Murtagh does look a good bet at even money to be top european jockey now!
2043: Things went against Mastery somewhat there but he had his chance down the stretch. Father Time never a factor.
2042: What a finish. Has Man Of Iron nailed the old fella Cloudy's Knight? Mastery third. It's close. Very close.
2040: Mastery needs a gap here, there's horses in front of him.
2040: No cheering at the end of the first lap. It's a racing crowd this one!
2040: Muhannak fourth on the inside, Mastery and Father Time fifth and sixth.
2039: We're off and Black Astor is tanking along up front. Father Time working his way through the field after a slow break.
2036: It's race time but they've yet to start loading. The British disease is catching.
2035: Apparently there's a danger of the home fans applauding and cheering as they pass the post on the first circuit thinking the race is over.
2033: Muhannak wins best turned out. Not sure what the groom gets but my money is it isn't £25.
2031: Four minutes to post time. Mastery 6/5. Sun shining. Nina found a blouse she likes in an American store online. All is well with the world!
2030: Scott in Fort Lauderdale writes: "About to watch the coverage on ESPN. Have backed Cloudys Knight at 12-1 in UK and hoping that Rosemary Junior can guide the old fella home".
Good luck sir. He seems the danger to the euro stars!
2028: Mastery being taken to the start right in front of me. Man Of Iron looks great. He isnt good enough though is he?
2026: You know what. Forgot Muhannak and Ryan Moore. Ralph (not pronounced as you'd think) Beckett is a life man too! Do think he'll struggle against the three-year-olds.
2024: Sky Bet were keen to have Lillie Langry on their side in the next but are now 2/1 from 9/4. They're on the track for the Marathon. Greeted by about 30 photographers in orange bibs.
2021: In the paddock now. So far so good with the European trio.
2020: Black Astor was the horse Steve Andersen felt was the leading home player here. It seems he's going to have to lead wire-to-wire to win it.
2018: Paul in Glasgow is another Robinson man! He writes: "Delayed but cheers to Adam for ms. mccall tip off to a flyer tonight".
2015: Rosemary Homeister. Jr. rides Cloudy's Knight, bidding to become the oldest Breeders' Cup winner at the age of nine. She says: "He's in the form of his life. He loves the job and feels like a three or four-year-old. He's bouncing".
2013: I missed the name of the three sisters pop-combo singing the national anthem but it was a wonderful effort. Ladies and gentlemen...let's get ready to rumble! The Breeders' Cup is officially open!
2010: Here we go. Opening ceremony for the "most valuable sporting event in the world".
2008: Another fanfare. Santa Anita is the home of the fanfare.
2005: 7/5 Mastery now, 7/2 Father Time.
2002: Adam Robinson is with us! Miss McCall has paid $11.80. What else do you have in your magic box?
2001: Good spot from Bob Bradley. He writes: "11 and 12 just came in at 6 1/2 furlongs. Fleeting Spirit is just fine in 9, rest easy British fans."
2000: 3/2 Mastery now. Or 6/4 inEnglish money!
1957: Here we go. Marathon time! Mastery 8/5 over here, Father Time 3/1 and Man Of Iron 6/1. Cloudy's Knight is 6/1.
1953: Is Adam Robinson in the building? Miss McCall has won. What a tip! What a man!
1950: Will Hayler's private advice to me was to get to be buffet early when lunch was served. One of the tips I have followed this week!! Beef again.
1930: We have the Jimmy V "Don't Give Up...Don't Ever Give Up" coming next. Then the Breeders' Cup Marathon!!
1919: Deal Breaker has hosed in. Hosed in. Martin Dwyer had a work out aboard Green Card James. He briefly threatened on the rail turning in but made only limited headway.
1917: Mister Hot Stuff is the last in. He always is. We're off!!
1914: The debate over the Pro-Ride surface rages on. Aidan O'Brien is firmly backing it ahead of the weekend.
He said today: "I think it's a beautiful surface. For everybody, it's definitely the way forward. If you don't want to race on grass, it's the best alternative. It's safe, it's even, it's level and it's smooth. And it's still forgiving".
1911: A temporary power cut on row F. We have juice again now though.
1910: Five minutes to post time. The sun is beating down.
1905: The horses are on the track for the opener.
1904: Fanfare time. A long one this, timed it at 13 seconds clock watchers. Hang on. They've started again. Make that 17 seconds.
1902: Zenyatta had an "unventful gallop" down the track today. Her exercise rider Steve Willard accepts she faces a big task in tomorrow's Classic.
He says: "She's going to have to bring her A game and be lucky too. I think the distance will be right down her alley, but there are five or six real good horses in there and no slouches".
1901: The horses are entering the parade ring for our opener.
1855: I see jockeys. We're nearly under way.
1853: Dos Equis again want us to stay thirsty. However they also say "you only live once so make sure it's close to the back stretch". I quite like that!
1850: Adam Robinson writes: "Get on Miss McCall in the 2nd, hacked up on her penultimate start producing a monster speed figure. Ive got her win and place, and part of daily double with Father Time...happy days!"
She'll be a decent price won't she Adam?
1849: The Turf track is officially firm. I sense they don't have traditional guessing game we do ahead of Cheltenham for example!
1845: There's an advert for North Capital llc next to this race in the programme. At last night's party I met their Chief Executive and one of the directors. The latter is a part-owner of Noble Court in tomorrow's Turf Sprint. Expects a big run but the horse is a closer and needs the gaps to open down the stretch. In the form of his life apparently.
1843: 32 minutes to post time. Martin J Dwyer's mount is a 27/1 chance. Our five horse Royal Punisher is just about favourite. As I said during the slow dances at the school disco, 'I'll sit this one out'.
1837: Frankie Dettori's intended mount in race two here has just been scratched. Our boys are going in cold here.
1835: We've been told to stay thirsty again. I'm getting a complex.
1832: Will Hayler was in this seat last year. Probably not this one, he's more a Row B or C man for me.
Anyway he has this for us today (and don't forget he left Santa Anita in profit in 2008!):
"I think Cloudy's Knight is a silly price in the Marathon to become the oldest ever winner of the Breeders' Cup. He's trained by a genius, is two from two in Grade Threes since coming back from injury and if you goback to his 2007 victory over Ask in the Canadian International, his form is ahead of Mastery and Father Time. The surface is an unknown, but he likes turf which bodes well, and he stays all day. Don't be put off by the jockey either. She can ride.
"It's an insult that a Canadian International winner should be longer odds than a horse who has won a couple of average all-weather races at Dundalk. IMO".
Interesting stuff. Couple of emails earlier from American fans who thought Cloudy Knight was a big price for the Marathon too.
1825: Is Johnny - not John - Murtagh a good bet at even money to be Top European Jockey with Sky Bet? The more I look at it. The more I think yes.
1822: PA system now in full cry. Alex Solis seems to have replaced John - not Johnny - Murtagh on Imco Spirit in our first race.
1820: There's a real sense of history about this place. A picture in the racecard shows Seabiscuit winning the Santa Anita Handicap at his third attempt.
1815: Michael Moran has cracked and backed Father Time at 10/3. I'm still a Mastery man. Surely there'll be an away win in the Marathon? Surely?
1810: Glorious here now. Lots of people drinking beer - and it's just got ten local time! I admire it. Sip resonsibly or stay thirsty? You have the freedom to decide.
1800: Sadly John McCririck is on row F. He is cutting a controversial figure on frequent visits to the cookie and coffee buffet.
1752: OMG as I promise to try and not say again. OMG. I've been welcomed to California by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Well all right. Only in his column in the race programme. But it still counts.
1750: Coral report money for Father Time in opposition to Mastery and Hatheer at a price to beat Lillie Langtry.
1746: The American Cotswolds are now in full view. I repeat. Full view.
1745: Johnny Murtagh and Martin Dwyer have picked up spare rides in our first race. Providing Martin J Dwyer is Martin Dwyer.
1740: Very impressive two-page ad for Henrythenavigator in the race programme. I'd have sent Aquarian Dancer to him had we still owned her.
1736: The latest arrival on row C in the press box is a hugely popular figure. It was a bit like when Norm walked into Cheers.
1730: Mike Barden writes: "Enjoying the craic. Speaking (phonetically) of which, what's the difference between chef's bum and builder's bum? Have had a bet on Negligee in 9.45 tonight. Do you think it will come off - the bet I mean?"
A purple rash and no are the two answers! However the second may be a yes. Steve Anderson was so sweet on Always A Princess I've rowed in with her.
1720: Went to pieces at the desk where I collected my programme. They come in two sizes. I went big. I always go big.
1710: Michael Moran is already among the winners. He writes: "howdy dave, had a great day so far 2 wins salerosa at southwell and duke of malfi at hexham just hoping midday can do the biz tonight for all henrys fans me being one"!
She's a player. As I'm saying all the time about everything. What about Father Time?
1700: I have an unrivalled view of the backsides of seven photographers next to the winning post. One seems to be suffering from - what is loosely labelled - chef's bum! They're either setting up worms-eye view cameras or someone has dropped something valuable.
1658: Bob has his verdict on our Mile gamble too.
He writes: "As for Justenuffhumor, I've been his supporter all week. He won 6 in a row this year and went into the Shadwell Mile (G1) as 7-5 favourite. Didn'thandle the soft turf at all and finished up the track. If he ran better in that race, he would have been second or third choice behind Goldikova.
"Very live horse on the firm ground at Santa Anita. As for the Europeans, I like Zacinto a lot more than Delegator. I think Delegator is a 7 furlong horse and granted those types can get a mile at Santa Anita, but I think Zacinto is progressing mightily in the second half of the season and would be by exacta (or whatever you folks call it) with Justenuff.
"Goldikova is a monster, but I'm counting on trouble for Peslier coming from the 11. If she gets a trip, everyone is in trouble, but there's no backing her at that price."
I agree. I really fear the draw for her. The plan is to drop her in - but how far back will she have to go?
1657: My go-to man in America, Bob Bradley, writes: "HRTV just showed a video of Fleeting Spirit schooling in the gate this morning. She propped coming out and made a left turn into the gap of the clubhouse turn. Noseda wasn't very happy about it, so it's a good thing she is out in 9!
"There won't be much chance she'll be able to go left with 8 horses to her inside. It does raise a concern for those backing her, because if she misses the break or veers right, she'll be in trouble. I still think if she breaks ok and can lay in 4th or 5th off the 3 speed balls to the inside, she could give a good account of herself."
Cheers for that Bob. Mr Noseda is rarely happy I have to say. Rarely.
1653: The Breeders' Cup finishing post is being constructed. We're getting close. Mountain watch - if anything a clearer view of the American cotswolds as I know them.
1652: Star Spangled Banner just been performed, very nicely I have to say. We all left our seats. I think it was a rehearsal.
1651: Dennis Bradley writes: "Dave is man of iron a runner in the marathon. have you ever ran a marathon?"
I entered one once but got chocolate all ov...no I won't. I think you know the answer to both Dennis!
1650: Looking forward to the opening ceremony. Hope second from left man has found his flag. He could shame a nation if he hasn't.
1645: I need to drink lots of water today. I'm in a shirt and tie combo which in this heat is the recipie for back and forehead sweat. Sun still out. Mountains partially visible.
1640: One market mover so far today with Sky Bet - Justenuffhumor 18/1 from 25s for the Mile. Not on my radar that one. May be not bad thing for his followers though.
1633: About two hours to our first race, four hours to the first Breeders' Cup contest. Another reminder you can still enter our £5,000 BC Tipster Challenge!. Don't worry. I can't enter!!
1620: Sun's out. Mountains reappearing. All's well with the world again.
1615: I'm all chatted out! Now a word from our sponsor as they say over here!
Sky Bet are paying an extra place on two of the four televised races from Doncaster on Saturday featuring the totesport.com November Handicap.
The last big betting race of the Flat season will be shown live on Channel 4 and Sky Bet will be paying five places instead of four in the competitive 23-runner field.
Baila Me, trained by Godolphin, currently heads the betting at 13/2 with Sky Bet and the each-way offer goes live from 4pm on Friday.
Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: "On a top class weekend of racing action, punters arespoilt for choice with value concessions in place for the Breeders' Cup meeting and the extra place in the November Handicap."
Sky Bet are also paying an extra place on the Gillies Fillies' Stakes at Doncaster from 8.30am on Saturday and 1/4 odds on all eight races at the Breeders' Cup meeting.
1504: Sorry. Slight delay to the chat. The shuttle bus driver insisted on having three people in the vehicle before we set off. A cameraman and myself were there early doors but we had to wait 20 minutes for a senior member of the American press corps to arrive, with whooping cough. Nearly carried him on myself. Anyway. Ready to roll now!
1405: Well guys and gals. I'm off up to Santa Anita for our 1500 GMT Live Chat!. All things Breeders' again. Bet it won't be.
I hope Sally Funnell isn't there this time. I've tracked her down. She is actually a tall, gangly male in Britain with moobs.
1355: I mean business today. I've used my tradtional 'Mankind' bodywash and menthol shampoo. No little cartons of coconut body milk. Not on Breeders' Cup day.
1340: Upon arrival R Kelly's name was lit up on one of the big screens - and he was playing. Over the road. But The Band From TV? They did exactly what it said on the tin.
We had a guy from ER (not George Clooney), the "fit plumber" from Desperate Housewives, not my description, and someone from the Shield. I recognised him. It was hard to spot him on stage though. His role seemed to be to tap a single drum at random moments.
Graham Cunningham felt they were "musically tight" but Shield man's role suggested over-staffed.
1334: Drink? Didn't over do it. No headache. I did sample two of the sponsors' products. Grey Goose vodka went into my Down The Stretch cocktail. And despite concerns it didn't return back up the stretch. The marketing message for Grey Goose is "sip sensibly".
I also had a couple of bottles of Dos Equis, the official beer of the Breeders' Cup.
They have a rather different marketing message. It reads "stay thirsty". That can also be an early sympton of diabetes.
1332: The food was good. I managed to gain none of my five-a-day as I hoovered up burgers, meatballs and what I believe was chicken, but could have been fish.
1330: Now where to start. The 2009 Welcome To Breeders' Cup Party was a triumph. A positive triumph. It took place in the Staples Centre, the ESPN Zone there within, and featured a red carpet arrival. I was quickly ushered off it into the tradesman's entrance. But fleetingly I was there.
