John Gosden will once again have the services of Santa Anita specialist Frankie Dettori for some of his leading chances at the Breeders' Cup this weekend.

Gosden and Dettori teamed up to brilliant effect at last year's meeting, with Donativum landing the Juvenile Turf and Raven's Pass taking the glory in the 5million Classic.

This year Dettori will get the leg-up on Dar Re Mi, who will take on the colts in the Turf, as well as Pounced, who bids to give the trainer a second successive Juvenile Turf win.

Gosden admits the decision to book Dettori rather than stable jockey Jimmy Fortune was not one he has taken lightly, but believes Dettori's superior experience of the track could prove crucial.

"The horses have travelled very well," he said.

"They have been out on the track this morning and I'm happy with them.

"They are all going to run in their first preference races, Dar Re Mi will go in the mile-and-a-half turf race, Rainbow View in the Ladies' Classic and Pounced in the Juvenile Turf.

"Julien Leparoux rode Rainbow View in Canada and will ride her again in the Ladies' Classic and Frankie Dettori will be on the other two.

"Frankie is highly experienced riding here.

"He cut his teeth here, has ridden in sixty odd Breeders' Cup races and has had numerous winners, whereas Jimmy Fortune has no experience of American tracks.

"It was a very difficult decision, but Frankie knows the track like the back of his hand and was available."

Rainbow View arrives on the back of a fine second place finish in the EP Taylor Stakes and Gosden feels she is in peak condition ahead of a bid for another Group One success.

"Rainbow View pleased me with the way she moved on the track," the trainer continued.

"Her owner George Strawbridge has a horse in the Filly & Mare Turf that won the race last year (Forever Together), so the Ladies' Classic was the obvious race to go for.

"She's a tough little character and handles it well, being down in California for a couple of weeks has helped her.

"She's eating up well and is looking bigger and better."

Gosden feels the trip of the Breeders' Cup Turf will suit Dar Re Mi much better than the fillies' race.

"Dar Re Mi ran a great race in the Arc to finish fifth, with Conduit fourth, and she had previously won the Prix Vermeille," Gosden added.

"It's a very fast mile and a half here as they run downhill early and the ground will be firm.

"The mile-and-a-quarter track rides like a nine-furlong race and she is a mile-and-a-half filly, so it's only fair to run her over a trip."

Newbury maiden winner Pounced ran a fine race to fill the runner-up spot in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp on his latest outing and Gosden is keeping his fingers for a favourable draw.

"Pounced is an equal sort of horse to Donativum," said the Newmarket trainer.

"Since he won his maiden I had this race at the back of my mind. He ran very well in the Grand Criterium."
