ANTHONY HAMILTON
World Ranking: 20
Provisional Ranking: 28
Date Of Birth: 29/06/71
World Championship best: Quarter-finalist - 2000, 2002
An excellent breakbuilder, Hamilton lays claim to some of the best nicknames on the tour.
Hailing from Nottingham, he is often introduced as the Robin Hood of Snooker and the Sheriff of Pottingham.
However, there is much more to the man than that.
Hamilton won the Australian Open and Australian Masters in 1995 to announce his arrival on the tour.
He has since reached his first two ranking finals, but lost them both - the British Open in 1999 and the China Open in 2002.
Has endured a pretty miserable season so far, although he did impress recently in Dublin where he beat both Matthew Stevens and Mark Williams.
However, Ken Doherty edged a close quarter-final on the deciding frame to end Hamilton's best run of the season.
Faces Crucible legend Steve Davis in the first round in Sheffield after seeing off Michael Holt in the final frame of their qualifying clash.
