Peter Ebdon, John Higgins and Stephen Lee were all beaten by the Glaswegian who stunned the snooker world as a 150-1 shot that week.

A regular practice partner of Stephen Hendry, Maguire now makes his Crucible debut after winning just one qualifying match (Robin Hull withdrew from the pair's schedule final-qualifying showdown).

Could hardly have asked for a tougher draw in Sheffield though - he faces former champion Ronnie O'Sullivan in his first match at the famous venue.

O'Sullivan won their last clash 5-3 at this season's British Open and Maguire will do well to reverse the fortunes here.
