DOMINIC DALE

World Ranking: 28
Provisional Ranking: 33
Date Of Birth: 29/12/71
World Championship best: Quarter-finals - 2000

With a penchant for colourful shirts, Dominic Dale stands out on the tour in more ways than one.

He let his snooker do the talking here four years ago though when reaching the last eight, beating Peter Ebdon and David Gray before being edged out by Joe Swail.

His greatest hour came at the 1997 Grand Prix event in Bournemouth when he lifted the trophy having started the week as a 100-1 shot.

Showed glimpses of such form in this year's Welsh Open when reaching the semi-finals - a run which included a 5-3 victory over Welsh compatriot Mark Williams.

Will have to repeat the feat in a best-of-19 match here though to progress past the first round.
