Davis - Indian summer in his career.

(11) STEVE DAVIS

World Ranking: 11
Provisional Ranking: 12
Date Of Birth: 22/08/57
World Championship best: Winner – 81,83,84,87,88,89

The six-times champion has enjoyed a remarkable renaissance over the past two years.

Now 46, this snooker legend returned to the top 16 thanks to an impressive 2002/03 season.

This campaign Davis has not been so consistent, but there has been once particular highlight.

The 'Nugget' - so named after his friends won money backing him in his days as an amateur - was within one frame of his first ranking title for nne years at the Welsh Open.

But he was denied by Ronnie O'Sullivan who reeled off the last four frames in Cardiff.

Still, Davis' efforts that week gave him plenty of ranking points and he has already assured himself of top-16 status next season.

That means the pressure is off here - could he possibly rekindle those glory days of the 1980s?
