Perry - set to drop out of top 16 (Getty Images).

(16) JOE PERRY

World Ranking: 16
Provisional Ranking: 22
Date Of Birth: 13/08/75
World Championship best: Last 16 – twice

There is little to suggest Joe Perry can make waves at this year's World Championships.

1. He has a poor record here having never gone beyond the second round.

2. Perry has yet to go beyond the last 16 of any ranking event this season.

3. Defending champion Mark Williams is a likely second-round opponent.

Perry's finest hour came at the 2001 European Open when he finished runner-up to Stephen Hendry.

That performance, along with a decent following season, helped him gain a place in the top 16, but after two poor years in succession that status is set to be lost in the summer.

Did cause an upset here in 1999 when shocking six-time champion Steve Davis.
