Henry - looking to make impact.

(18) DREW HENRY

By Richard Preen

World Ranking: 22
Date Of Birth: 24/11/68
Form: R48/SF/R48/R48/R32
World Championship best: Last 16 - 2000

Drew Henry, playing his 12th season on the professional tour, reached his third career semi-final at this season's UK championships.

En route to this achievement he was able to eliminate Stuart Bingham, Jimmy White, Stephen Lee and Ronnie O'Sullivan.

In the semi-finals he met his match in Ken Doherty who eventually succeeded with a 9-5 win.

His previous semi-final appearances arose in the same season 2000-01 where he progressed in the China and Scottish Opens.

To reach two semi-finals in such a short space of time was made even more remarkable by the fact he'd never reached a semi-final prior to this in his ten previous year's as a professional.

Apart from the high spot of the UK championships, Henry's season has been disappointing and is even being threatened with the loss of his top 32 ranking.

Two last 32 positions at the World and Scottish Open should though be enough to secure his placing for another season.

In last year's championships Henry drew the short straw by landing Ronnie O'Sullivan and eventually succumbing 10-5 to the `Rocket'.

This year he has drawn Mark King, a player who Henry has a slight psychological advantage against after beating him 10-8 at the 2000 World Championships.
