Graeme Dott is fast establishing a reputation for being a consistent performer.
Dott joined the pro-ranks in 1994 and has made a steady climb up the world rankings.
He has two runner-up positions to his credit losing 9-6 to John Higgins in the 2001 British Open and 9-1 to Stephen Hendry in 1999 at the Scottish Open.
His run at the Scottish Open also included a 147 maximum break which took on more significance due to the presence of the television cameras.
He has made a number of semi and quarter-final appearances which have made an impact on his ranking which currently stands at 12.
His form of late has suffered with two last 16 appearances being the only highlights in a disappointing season.
Dott though only finds his provisional ranking affected by one placing to 13th so there is still plenty to play for.
He has recently lost his first match at the Scottish Open and will be desperate for a change in fortune at Sheffield.
His opening match at the Crucible is against Robert Milkins, a player who is competing for Dott's position in the 16.
Dott will be eager to turn his performances around to be sure of regaining his mantle at the end of the season.
