FISHER IN FINAL
Defending champion Kelly Fisher moved a step closer to winning her fourth
women's world title by reaching the final at the Crucible in Sheffield on Thursday.
The world number one, who has lost just one match all season, compiled breaks
of 44, 54, 60 and 43 to overwhelm Reanne Evans 4-0.
Fisher, who lives in Carlisle, will face 2001 champion Lisa Quick in the final
after her 4-0 defeat of Wendy Jans, who won the Scottish Open title earlier this
month.
Quick, a former world eight-ball pool champion, won two frames on the black
and one on the pink to qualify for Sunday's final.
"It was never a 4-0 game and could easily have been 2-2," said Quick.
"Kelly will be very tough to beat in the final because she is by far the best
player in the ladies game. But I know I am capable of beating her on my day."
